It's WINDSday!

It is windy, windy, windy here! I do love my Wednesdays though because that means tomorrow is THURSDAY! Wahoo! This week flew by! Tomorrow will be a pretty easy day for us at school because the kids get to go swimming for two hours with the PE coach. That means us classroom teachers get a LONG break! :D We are pretty excited about it! My kids also have art and library tomorrow so I will have lots of time to plan out next week and get ready for the end of the school year! I also love my Thursdays because I get to dress comfortably aka: JEANS AND A SWEATSHIRT! Haha. Anyway, here is another card that I made on Sunday for Amy's Super Sketch Sunday. Again, Amy asked us to use LOTS of dp. I seriously love doing these challenges though because not only do I get to experiment with LOTS of paper but I also get to use up my old stuff! I also used SCS's Saturday Inspiration Challenge. Here is the picture that was supposed to inspire us! :D I thought it was so cute. Anyway, I didn't think I was going to get to play with the inspiration challenge because I didn't have any jungle or safari animal stamps BUT when we went to the Springs this weekend we stopped at Hobby Lobby and since their stamps were 50% off I decided to buy this ADORABLE Changito Stamp from Stampendous! I absolutely love this stamp. I had seen it used on some cards earlier and wanted an image...just one. :D I got it and it's so cute! I also bought a couple of new little stamps at Michael's in the $1 bin. If you don't buy those, you should! There are some really neat ones in there! So really, as much as I hate to admit this, the only thing on this card that is SU! is the cardstock, watercolor paper, and ink. Oops! Shame on me! I seriously need a wider variety of SU! stamps though. It's too bad we don't have a lot of money right now. :( Haha. I will be honest, I LOVE how this card turned out. The only thing that bothers me is the fact my ink ran outside of the lines. Other than that, it's a terrific card! Alright, sorry for the long post. I just had lots to rant about! :D Enjoy your evening. Thanks for stopping by!

I'm Back!

You should have known I would have two cards to post today! :D I forgot to tell you earlier that I ended up making 6 cards last night! I met my quota for the week (according to my husband) and it's only Tuesday! :D I had LOTS of sketch challenges that I wanted to take part in, so I did (should I admit that I didn't get to all of them either)! This is a card that I actually made on Sunday. Sunday is kind of my day to just be by myself because my husband does games with the youth (which I don't do very often because there are no girls that go) from 2-5 and then he likes to play basketball with a bunch of guys from 6-8. It's nice for me because I usually have lots of time to play in my stamp room! Anyway, back to the card. I used Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try again on this card. As always, I enjoyed the sketch. It really gave me a lot of room to work. If you are getting tired of me using sketch challenges, let me know. I just think they make stamping so much faster! :D Thanks, once again, for stopping by! I love it that people care about my work. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! :D Sometimes an "It looks nice." from my husband just isn't enough. Don't get me wrong, I love him for it, but it's good to hear it from others! So THANKS! :D If you have a blog that you would like for me to check out, leave me a comment with a link to it. I would LOVE to see your work too!

Another Featured Stamper Challenge

So, if you have noticed, I have been doing LOTS of challenges lately. They are just the push I need to get into the stamping mode. I love having somewhere to start and then having something to really make me think. Here is a card that I made for this week's SCS Featured Stamper challenge. The Featured Stamper this week is Heather aka: sf9erfan. Her gallery is FANTASTIC! It was almost impossible to pick a card but I had limited time on Sunday so I chose to CASE a card that looked simple. I picked the perfect card too! Here is her card. The thing I love the most about rub-ons is how quick, easy, and CLEAN they are! There is hardly any thing to clean when you are done. I, obviously, didn't change a lot about this card. I picked a different sentiment and made sure it was a rub-on, I used regal rose as a top layer and made it smaller, I changed the paper piercing up a little, and I used different ribbon. Other than that, it's pretty much identical! :D Thanks so much Heather for the inspiration!

Snip Snip!

I know the title of this sounds a little weird but that was the title of the Ways to Use it Challenge over on Splitcoast last week! The challenge was for us to use scissors on a card. Now, since I use scissors on almost every card it was no problem for me. For this card I just cut out my blossom and trimmed my ribbon. Not too difficult! :D You can barely read the sentiment but it says "For You" at the top. Nick said he wasn't sure how he felt about this card but I like it. He did, however, like the eyelets. He would tell me to put eyelets on every card! Haha! Thanks for stopping by tonight. I am sitting here listening to my husband and one of his friends talk about some pretty deep things. It's not something I want to get involved in so I am stamping the night away! :D I've made 4 cards already! I'll have to share them later this week!

Another Scrap Card!

Here is another card that I made using all scraps! :D It was lots of fun. I wasn't sure if I liked it at first but the more I look at it, the more it grows on me. Thanks for looking! I will be back later with another card!

Beate's Challenge Scraps Card

For this card I combined two challenges. I tried Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge again and I also used Splitcoast's Limited Supplies challenge. For the limited supplies challenge we had a few requirements. They were as follows:

1. Make a square card. (Any size)
2. Use only scrap pieces of paper. (The base card doesn't have to be a scrap.)
3. Use ribbon or fiber scraps.
4. Use only ONE other embellishment.
5. Use any colors, stamps, and tools.

I did not have any problems making a card that met these requirements. I have TONS of scraps. In fact, everything on this card was a scrap! The base was, the ribbon was, even the image had been stamped and colored a while back. Because of that, this card was quick! I loved it. For those of you new to my blog, I am trying to get rid of my old dp so I have used a lot of if on my recent cards. I am running out of room and I would hate to just throw all of it away! I would much rather use my SU! dsp but I owe it to my hubby to use this old stuff (he bought it for me way back when). Anyway, I hope you enjoy this card. I actually made it for my brother but I just realized he took off this afternoon without grabbing it :(. Oh well. He will have to get it later! Maybe I will mail it to him. Hehe. That would be really funny. I think I will do that! Well, I'm off to go make a card and then type some papers for a class I have tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of your evening! Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate it so incredibly much. As always, let me know who you are!

Beate's Sketch Challenge (Sorta)

Good morning everyone! I hope your morning is as bright and sunny as mine is! :D I didn't get home until late last night so I am a little groggy this morning. My husband is preaching at church today so if you remember, say a quick prayer for him. He's pretty nervous about it. Anyway, here is a card that I started out making for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge but I kind of lost the rectangle part. I didn't think it looked right behind the "hi" so I left it off. We will see if it still qualifies. Either way, I made another one, just in case! (I'll post that one later today.) I really like these cards together and I had been wanting to use my chipboard letters for a while. That is why it turned out the way it did! :D I hope you like it! Thanks for looking and be sure to stop by again later for some more cards! I will be back after church!

Another Sketch Challenge!

Wednesday's Splitcoast sketch challenge was a lot of fun! I decided to use my embrace life set again for this card. I have decided that I need some new sets. Mine are getting used a lot and I am getting tired of the same ones! Haha. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for looking! I may possibly be back again tonight with yet another card. I need to get these things posted! :D Nick, my brother, and I are going to Colorado Springs shopping so I won't have time to stamp this afternoon. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone!

That's A Lot of DP!

I made this card for Amy's Super Sketch Sunday challenge! Amy's one requirements for these sketches is that you use lots of different dp. She even tells you where to put the dp. Lucky for me, I have been dying to use up all of my old dp so I played! I flipped my sketch upside down but I think it will work. This card is really fun and it was really fun to make. It was the first time I had used the "chirp up" stamp from the Very Punny set. I hope you enjoy. I will be back later because I am so far behind on posts again. I can't believe I am actually. I haven't felt like I have done a lot of stamping this week. My mojo just hasn't been there like usual. Thanks for stopping by! I will be back soon!

This Week's Color Challenge!

Here is the card I made for this week's color challenge on Splitcoast. The colors were Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, and Pretty in Pink. I decided to make a baby card. I am pretty happy with how this card turned out. I also used MJ's lunchtime sketch challenge for this card! Sorry to keep this so short but my brother is visiting and I need to spend some time with him! Thanks so much for looking!

Gift Card Holder

Hello everyone! I am behind on posting my cards still! This is a gift card holder that I made Monday after school. The challenge on Splitcoast was to make one of these neat things and I knew I had to try it! Dawn actually has a video posted on her blog and it helped me out tremendously! I had been dying to make one of these so the challenge was the perfect push! Here is a picture of the inside. I decided to keep it simple since it is probably going to be for a guy. I am going to keep this short because I need to spend some time with my handsome hunk of a husband! :D "Hi honey!" Hehe. Thanks, once again, for stopping by!

New and Old SFYTT!

Good evening everyone! Here is this week's Sketch For You To Try from Jen del Muro's blog. I had a lot of fun with this
sketch although it was a bit of a challenge for me. I am still trying to use up all of that old dp so the colors were a bit tricky. I am pretty pleased with the end results though!

This is a picture of last week's sketch challenge card! I just realized that I completely forgot to post it last week! Yikes! Sorry about that! I sent it off the very next day to Charmaine and forgot I hadn't posted it yet! Well, sorry this is so short. We had T-Church tonight and we are ready for bed!

Featured Stamper: Silke! :D

Sunday's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast was Silke aka: Sparklegirl! Now, I have been a regular blog stalker of Silke's for quite some time now so I was SUPER excited to see that she was finally featured! She is an amazing stamper and one incredibly sweet person! :D You can find her blog here and her SCS gallery here! Be sure to check both, you won't regret it! There were so many cards that I wanted to CASE and it was hard to decide on one. Lucky for me though, I did two! The reason for this is because I attempted one and wasn't satisfied (although who would be when the card is already gorgeous???) and so I tried a second card.

Here is my first card cased from this card of Silke's:

Here is my second card CASEd from this one:

Now, obviously, mine aren't near as pretty as her's, but I tried. The pictures aren't that great and as I mentioned earlier, I am going to post everything I make. It's just how I am. :D Anyway, I hope you all have a WONDERFUL day. Nick and I are going to eat supper at some friends' house tonight! :D We are looking forward to it! I will see you all back here later!

Freshcut Challenge

Good evening everyone! I made this card for SCS's inspiration challenge -- Freshcut. For this challenge we were supposed to choose a fabric swatch from this website. I chose this sample to use as my inspiration. I used the colors and the lines to inspire me for this card. I really like how this card turned out. I was a little worried about this challenge at first because I wasn't too fond of some of the flowery fabrics but that is why it is called a challenge...right? :D However, this card came together so much easier than I had anticipated. In fact, it was probably the quickest card yet! For this card I used naturals ivory cardstock as the base, I rounded the bottom corners and added a layer of more mustard, sage shadow, and finally some more k-i memories dp. I then topped off all the layers with some chocolate ribbon. The sentiment is another rub-on (have I mentioned how much I love those?) and I watercolored the flower from the Doodle This set, added a brad to the center, and popped it up on a dimensional. It was easy peasy! :D I love how it turned out too! I hope you all enjoyed your day! I will be back tomorrow with another challenge card or two. Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Spirelli Long Card

Good evening everyone! I am back with another favorite card! This week's "Limited Supplies Challenge" on SCS was to make a long card that measured 4x8. We could not use dp and we had to limit our embellishments and layers! Yikes! I had never attempted a long card before so I was a little nervous. For the card I decided I was going to make it fairly simple. I knew I wanted the background to be white and I wanted bright springy colors to accent it. I had also seen a challenge earlier on the SU! demo portion of Splitcoast to try spirelli on a card, so I did! I really like how this card turned out! The ribbon is from the blog candy that I received last week and the brads are from Hobby Lobby. This card was really simple because of the fact that there was no stamping and not much layering involved. I used my rub-ons for the sentiment and some dimensionals to pop up the spirelli scallops. Other than that, this card is pretty straightforward! I am going to attempt to make a video tutorial on the spirelli scallops later. HOPEFULLY, sometime this week. If you have any questions on the card, just ask! :D I hope that everyone has a joyous evening. Nick and I are probably going to stay home and spend some QT together. We will probably eat some pizza and watch a movie. I am looking forward to it!

An Award and Problems with Blogger!

Hello again everyone. I am having troubles with blogger this weekend. I have been working on trying to make some changes to my layout and lots of stuff got deleted. I will hopefully get everything figured out soon! Sorry for any confusion!

On another exciting note, Leanne has awarded me with the infamous arte y pico award! Here is the deal: The award was originally designed by Eseya at arte y pico . You pick five blogs that you think earned this award based on their creativity, design, interesting material, and contribution to the blogging community. List the names on your blog and link to their blogs. Leave a comment on one of their posts to let them know of the award! Each winner has to show the award and put the name of the person who gave them the award with a link to their blog. Also show the link to arte y pico.

It was a really tough choice but here are some great blogs that I am nominating:
Megan: Girl Meets Life
Kathleen: My Happy Place
Maren: Zany Not Crazy
Jackie: Jackie Stamps 4 Fun
Jamie: Stamp This

Thanks Leanne!!

Acrylic Challenge!

Good afternoon everyone! How is everyone's Sunday going? It is a warm, blustery day here. When I say blustery, I should say, 70mph (at least) gusts blustery! One thing about Colorado, it is windy in the spring! :D The cool thing is, our trees can handle it. Now, I grew up in Iowa, and if we had winds like this, there would be no power because all of the trees would have knocked the power lines down! On days like this, you just stay inside and listen to (what sounds like) the siding of your house getting ripped off! Haha. The sun is shining though so my house is staying very warm! Anyway, this week on Splitcoast we were given a "Ways to Use it" challenge where we had to use something acrylic on our cards. I was stumped on this one because I thought I had nothing. Believe it or not, I soon discovered that the tops to my build-a-brads were acrylic and I had some clear stamps that I mount on an acrylic block. I decided to use both! I think I mentioned earlier that I have been trying to use up a lot of my old paper. I have TONS of dp and other paper that I need to weed through so I figured, instead of throwing it away, use it! On this card I used LOTS of old paper. I wanted to use this crazy textured cardstock I had so I decided to cut a circle out of it because it looked like water and use my cute fishy from the Very Punny set and I covered him with crystal effects. I used my build-a-brad tops to look like bubbles and I put them over the U 2 sentiment (The U and 2 are my clear stamps.). This wavy lined dp reminded me a lot of seaweed so there you have it, an ocean based card. I did use some old olive and whisper white cardstock along with my punches that are SU!. Other than that, nothing is SU! DON'T TELL! :D I am not sure what to think of this card yet. It's fun, but it's a little odd for what I am used to! Haha. Thanks for stopping by!

Kristina's Color Inspiration!

Welcome back! For this post I am going to show you the card I made for Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration challenge! Every week Kristina posts a picture on her blog that she has found as a piece of inspiration. The pictures she chooses are beautiful and have so many vivid colors in them. She then translates the picture into a color combination and asks her readers to create a card using those colors. This week's colors were certainly celery, so saffron, bashful blue, and close to cocoa.
I decided that I wanted to make a kick-stand card since I had never tried one of those before. I also decided that I wanted to use this cute little image from the Fun & Fast Notes set (can you tell it's one of my favorite sets???). I just love how cute he is! I watercolored the little guy with my SU! markers and my blender pen. I made sure to color in some green grass under him so it didn't look like he was floating. I then added the little sentiment underneath. I am pleased with how this card turned out. It is one that I enjoyed making and it came together really quickly! I am definitely feeling much more confident as a stamper. I feel more comfortable with my work and I have come to realize that each creation is beautiful to someone no matter what I may think of it! I love sharing my cards with you because of the joy that stamping brings me. I hope that I may somehow be able to inspire others with my love of stamping. It's great to be able to challenge myself to do better with each card and that is why I love Splitcoast. They give you daily challenges which are made to help us improve. My goal every day is to get at least one card made. I know that sounds like a lot to some (my husband included) but it is a passion I have and I just don't feel complete unless I can spend some time fulfilling that passion! Haha. I am rambling. I will stop. I just wanted to share my feelings with all of you. I know a lot of you are probably feeling the same. If you are, tell me, I love hearing from my readers!

A Demo Challenge!

Hello everyone! I hope you are all enjoying your Saturday. It is absolutely beautiful here again today! It's crazy that we can get at least 6 inches of snow on Wednesday night/Thursday and then have it be absolutely gorgeous and in the mid 60's Friday and Saturday! I am not complaining, it is just funny how our weather works! Well, I have decided that since I am SO far behind on posting cards, I will be posting two for the next couple of days. I hope that's ok! I just discovered a bunch more that I haven't posted yet. Haha! The card for this post is one that I had forgotten about! I made this card a while back for a SU! Demo challenge. Our challenge was to make a simple card that even a beginning stamper could create. We were only allowed to use one stamp set. Luckily, SU! has wonderful sets and almost all of them include multiple images and a couple of different sentiments. We also were limited on our tools and we could only use one type of embellishment. For this card I decided to use ribbon as my embellishment, especially since ribbon is a fairly cheap and easy embellishment to add! We were only allowed two tools (besides the cutter and adhesive) so I chose to use my punches (counts as one tool) and my sponge daubers. I am really pleased with how well this card looks. It reminded me that you don't need a lot of fancy equipment to make a beautiful card! My challenge for you is to try making a simple card as well, you might be surprised at what you come up with! Thanks for stopping by!

My First Get Well Card!

Can you believe I have never made a get well card before today? I couldn't believe it. I discovered that today when I was searching for one to give to a girl in our youth group. She had an appendicitis this week and is in a lot of pain. I just hate to see my girls suffer! :( Anyway, Beate posted this week's sketch challenge today so I decided to make it a get well card. I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. This image is, again, from the Fun & Fast notes and I think it is such a pretty image. I also like how easilly you can put it with any dsp. For this card I stamped the image with StazOn ink and then watercolored it using my SU! markers and my blender pen. I am so glad I have finally found a good and easy way to watercolor. It took me awhile to figure out. The aquapainter is another good way but it's so much harder to move the ink where I want. It just seems to seep everywhere! After I had finished putting the main card together I decided to stamp the sentiment on some ruby red cardstock and then punch it out with my word window punch (I love that punch). I then popped the image and the sentiment up on some dimensionals. I am pleased with the final product. Thanks for the great sketch Beate! Keep them coming! WE LOVE THEM! :D

Which Card Should I Show???

Happy Friday! Nick arrived home safely today! However, my poor baby's entire upper lip is one big cold sore so I can't kiss him! :( Luckily it is healing so hopefully the scabs (that word grosses me out) will fall off soon! While he was away, I made tons of cards. That is the problem. I have made at least two a night for the past 4 days so I have an abundance of cards still to show you! I can't decide which card to show you first! I have lots of favorites. Hmmm. I think I am going to show you one now, and then one later. Hopefully that works for all of you! Anyway, the card I think I am going to show you now is a card I made for this week's SCS sketch challenge. I did this card Wednesday night and I think it is the oldest one I have yet to show. I loved this week's sketch challenge! It was so much fun! I decided for this sketch that I wanted to use the cute little bird from the Fun & Fast Notes set. I also decided I wanted to use the cute stamps I received in the mail a couple of days ago so I had it look like the bird was standing on the sentiment! I like how it turned out. I used my Bali Breeze dsp and crimped a piece of taken with teal cardstock for the background. I also put a scalloped piece of taken with teal to give it a more feminine feel. The little strip is made with old olive cs (again, I'm addicted) and Summer Picnic dsp with some ribbon over it. I added some glitter and a cute brad to the flower and that's pretty much it! Let me know if you have any questions on my card! Have a wonderful Friday evening and thanks so much for stopping by!

More Fun Mail!

I got some more fun mail today! :D I recently commented on Jessica's blog about this great tutorial. Guess what I received in the mail today...the stuff to make those great clouds on the card! Another Sweet Challenge!

Good evening everyone! I hope everyone is doing well tonight! Thank goodness the weekend is almost here! I have had a long week. I love teaching 2nd graders but they can sure wear a person out!

For my card tonight I used another one of MJ's great Monday Lunchtime Sketch challenges! I chose to use some more old olive on this card. I am sorry if you are getting sick of seeing it! Haha. I just can't help myself! I also decided to use the apple image from the cute Tart & Tangy set. I REALLY wanted to use the apple paper from the Summer Picnic dsp and the apple stamp matches it perfectly. I decided to mount my stamped apples on some real red scallops and staggered them so that they would fit. I was only going to use 2 but I decided 3 looked better. I then had to figure out what to do about the side rectangle. I needed a sentiment so I used the sweet stamp from the Sweet Shapes set. I then punched it out with some oval punches and hung the sentiment on a brad. I like how this card turned out although it took me quite a while to get it that way. That's kind of how I am when I make cards though, picky. Anyway, here is MJ's sketch. Thanks so much MJ!
Have a great night!

THIS Week's Be Inspired Challenge!

Well, I tried all night and all morning to post this but our internet has been down so here it is!
Alright, as I mentioned earlier, I did do this week's Beate's Be Inspired Challenge last night before going to bed. I choose to be inspired by the colors in this incredible painting as well as the swirls for the tree! I had yet to ink up this set (I bought it AFTER Christmas) and decided it didn't necessarily have to be solely a Christmas image! It makes the perfect masculine card image (imho). On this card I also used Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. I gave it a rustic feel by roughing up the edges and then sponging them. I also added some twine for a little more dimension along with these great brads. The piece of close to cocoa was also stamped with my Itty Bitty Backgrounds. I think that's a bout all there is to this card! I am pretty happy with how it turned out! This card will be going to my hubby (shhh...don't tell) as a Welcome Home card! He is in Wyoming again this week and I am SO ready for him to be back. I miss my man! Well, I hope everyone has a great night!

Recipe:
Stamps: Solemn Stillness, Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Paper: Real Rust, Garden Green, More Mustard, Close to Cocoa, Naturals Ivory

Beate's Be Inspired Challenge

Good morning everyone! This is actually last week's Be Inspired Challenge by Beate. I got it done over the weekend and just haven't gotten it posted yet. Beate has a new Be Inspired Challenge posted this week and I actually got that one done last night! I will have to share that one later though. I have found her inspiration challenges to be very, well, challenging! Haha! I suppose that's a good thing because it forces me out of my comfort zone quite a bit. I also used last week's Limited Supplies Challenge on SCS where we had to make our own dp. I decided to make mine with the Itty Bitty Backgrounds set by stamping the piece of pumpkin pie cardstock with versamark and then pumpkin pie ink so that it would have a dual spotted look to it. I used Lauren's Saturday Sketch Time challenge for the layout! I like combining challenges because I NEVER have enough time to make a different card for each challenge. I wish I did but...oh well. Well, I'm off to school. I will post another new card later today! Thanks for checking in!

My Double Pocket Card

The challenge yesterday over at Splitcoast was to make a double pocket card. I was really excited to make one but didn't have a chance until I got home from Bible Study. If you haven't made one of these yet, you should. They were so fun and easy to make! :D I decided that I would make mine for a boy (probably my nephew) since the boys in my 2nd grade class LOVE bookmarks! I would have never known they did, but they do! Both of the inserts are made into cute bookmarks. I used the Pun Fun set on this card along with some AWESOME Summer Picnic dsp. I am not TOO excited about my coloring but by the time I was finishing up last night it was almost midnight and I decided I had had enough! I hope you like it!

Recipe:
Stamps: Pun Fun
Paper: Summer Picnic, Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Black StazOn
Accessories: SU! Markers, Brads, Ribbon, Glitter, Stapler, Sticky Strip, Dimensionals
